Mr. Chen -

I only had you for one semester, but I'm glad I got to be in your class with all the people in 8th Period! I wouldn't have expected to be so invested in AP Lit, but I enjoyed it so much that I've been advocating for taking the class whenever juniors ask me. I may have failed most of the quizzes, but that doesn't define how much I learned about the world and myself through the course.

You're truly a one of a kind teacher, and while I'll never know if you mean it when you "switch personalities," you've taught me the importance of being vulnerable through your own demonstration of it. Thank you for the lessons that go beyond the texts we studied and essays we wrote. (And, thank you for always replying to Yearbook Instagram stories with the applause emoji whenever we had deadlines)

I'll look forward to the memes and weird stories about next year's students that you post on @seriousdan. Please don't deactivate again, para-social relationships on social media are essential in life. ;)

See you around! I'm sure the small world of Irvine will create some sort of opportunity to run into you in public, so this isn't goodbye.

All my best,
Annabelle

P.S. if you want boba with less of a line, I'm working at Yi Fang (Walnut and Jeffrey) until mid-August. Ask if I'm there and I can give discounts if I'm in!
